Getting Things Going From the Ol’ Winnebago

There’s something kind of fitting about getting Oscavire moving from an old Winnebago.

It’s not exactly a glass-walled office with a skyline view. There’s no polished conference room, no espresso machine humming in the corner, and definitely no army of people running around looking busy.

There’s an old Winnebago.

And, honestly, that’ll do.

Oscavire is at that stage where the most important thing isn’t having everything figured out. It’s getting things moving. Building. Testing ideas. Throwing out the bad ones. Finding the good ones hiding underneath. Making something, looking at it, saying, “Well, that’s not quite it,” and taking another swing.

That kind of work doesn’t require much.

A computer.
Some electricity.
A decent internet connection.
A place to sit.

And apparently, a Winnebago.

You Have to Start Somewhere

It’s easy to imagine that projects begin at some magical point when everything finally lines up.

The plan is finished. The branding is perfect. The website is ready. The money is there. Everybody knows exactly what they’re doing.

That moment rarely seems to arrive.

What actually happens is much less glamorous.

You start with what you’ve got.

Then you make the next thing.

Then the next thing.

Eventually, you look behind you and realize there’s a trail.

That’s where Oscavire is right now.

The ideas that have been bouncing around in our heads are starting to become real things we can see, use, break, rebuild, and improve. Some parts are rough. Some will probably disappear completely. Others are beginning to feel like they’ve been waiting there the whole time for us to uncover them.

That’s the fun part.

The Winnebago Office

There are some advantages to working out of an old Winnebago.

For one, the commute is excellent.

For another, it’s difficult to take yourself too seriously when your headquarters has wheels.

There’s something useful about that.

We want Oscavire to become something ambitious, but ambition can get weird when it turns into pretending you’re already a giant company. Suddenly everything needs a committee, a strategy deck, a meeting about the meeting, and somebody saying “circle back” with a completely straight face.

We’d rather build.

The Winnebago is a pretty good reminder of that.

Use what works.

Fix what doesn’t.

Keep moving.

Building the First Pieces

Right now, a lot of the work is foundational.

We’re figuring out what Oscavire should feel like—not just what it should look like.

What deserves to exist?

What can we make genuinely useful?

What feels unnecessarily complicated?

What would make somebody stop and think, okay, this is actually cool?

Those questions are shaping everything.

And because we’re early, we get the luxury of changing our minds.

Nothing is sacred yet.

If an idea sucks, we can kill it.

If something unexpectedly works, we can chase it.

If we discover a better direction tomorrow, we can turn the Winnebago around.

Metaphorically, at least.

The actual turning radius on this thing is terrible.

The Goal Isn’t to Look Busy

There’s a temptation when starting something new to make it look like something is happening.

Post constantly.

Announce everything.

Talk about what you’re going to build.

We’d rather spend most of that energy actually building it.

So things may occasionally be quiet around here.

Quiet doesn’t mean nothing is happening.

It probably means somebody is staring at a screen inside an aging recreational vehicle wondering why the thing that worked perfectly ten minutes ago has suddenly decided it no longer believes in electricity.

Progress.

Anyway, We’re Off

Oscavire has a long way to go.

That’s exciting.

There are things we want to build, experiments we want to try, mistakes we haven’t made yet, and probably a few ideas that are going to send us down wonderfully stupid rabbit holes.

We’ll share some of that journey here.

Not because we have all the answers.

Mostly because we don’t.

For now, though, things are moving.

The computer is running.

The ideas are flowing.

The Winnebago still starts.

That’s enough.

Let’s see where this thing goes.
